The mission field is in our back yard this time, but together we can restore the Shore.
For me, like most of us in the tri-state area, summer has always meant the Jersey Shore. Of course, that meant different things for different people. My kids will tell you the Jersey Shore is Ocean City, being brought up on Wonderland Pier, Johnson’s Popcorn and Mack and Manco Pizza. Others will just as fondly remember the gingerbread houses and promenade of Cape May, or the roller coasters and nightlife of Seaside Heights. It doesn’t matter which town, really. Love or hate its rambunctious cast, the show that made Seaside Heights famous—or, at least, infamous—is going off the air. MTV announced Thursday afternoon its hit series Jersey Shore will end after a recently taped season airs this fall. The sixth season of the series, which since 2009 has chronicled the oft-drunken misadventures of eight twentysomethings living in a house on Ocean Terrace in Seaside Heights, will premiere Oct. 4 at 10 p.m. But when the season ends, the show and the cast will not return. The network will air the retrospective Gym, Tan, Look Back as part of a farewell marathon Sept. 6, and the cast will make an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards that night. Lately, the production crews have been filming a spin-off …

Deena Cortese disrupted traffic, police say.
A cast member of the Jersey Shore show was arrested this afternoon in Seaside Heights after a police officer saw her appearing intoxicated and disrupting the flow of traffic, Detective Steven Korman said. Deena Cortese, 25, of New Egypt, was charged with disorderly conduct after the 3:48 p.m. incident, he said. Cortese and some other Jersey Shore cast members were in Spicy's Mexican Cantina at 500 Boardwalk near the intersection of Sumner Avenue and Ocean Terrace before the incident occurred, he said. Cortese went outside and started dancing in the middle of the street, disrupting the flow of traffic, he said. "Patrolman Chris Linnell placed her under arrest," Korman said. "Traffic was building up and the officer had to act, obviously."
