West Deptford Police Officers Fundraise for a Cause

Gearing up for the Police Unity Tour, John Craig and Richard Henry need the community's support to honor officers who died in the line of duty.

Two of West Deptford’s finest are preparing to honor their fallen comrades with a bike tour across the country—and you can help them reach their goals. With more than 200 participants in South and Central Jersey alone, the Police Unity Tour, “the ride for those who died,” raises awareness of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. But the ride is only one component—participants also raise money for the cause, leading up to the tour in May. As West Deptford Police Department’s Investigator John Craig and Det. Cpl. Citing Family, John Craig Steps Down As WDHS Wrestling Coach

Craig compiled a record of 125-34 over his seven years as the head coach at West Deptford.

John Craig has spent the last seven years guiding and molding the teenagers in the West Deptford High School wrestling program as the varsity head coach. Now he is stepping away so he can turn his full attention to a group of kids at a younger age: his own. Citing the desire to spend more time watching his daughters grow and mature, Craig stepped down from his post late last week. “It was something I have been going over for a while,” said Craig. “I have three daughters—ages seven, six and five. They are involved in a lot of activities, and feel like I have responsibilities to be there with them, whether it’s soccer, dance, tee-ball or lacrosse.” Craig met with his wrestlers on Friday to inform them of his decision.
