King of Steaks Finds a New Home in Woodbury

The West Deptford shop is moving from Kings Highway to downtown Woodbury.

Joe Gregoria worried his cheesesteak shop would lose its sizzle forever.  Faced with the possibility of having to vacate the Kings Highway building that's housed King of Steaks since it opened seven years ago, Gregoria briefly considered leaving the restaurant business altogether.  Then, driving through downtown Woodbury one day, he found a solution.  A shuttered business that would be a perfect fit for King of Steaks.  Gregoria is moving King of Steaks to 22 S. Broad St. in Woodbury, the former home of Starfish Caribbean Cuisine Cafe, which closed last year.  He plans to open in Woodbury on Feb. 1, in time for the Super Bowl two days later.  "When I thought about leaving, I was worried about disappointing our customers more than anything…

G's Liquor Gallery May Move as Early as This Fall

After getting the green light from the West Deptford zoning board to move, Greg Payer hopes to have his business moved before the holidays.

Beer and cheesesteaks in one stop? Not a bad idea, with football season right around the corner, and it'll be an option if G’s Liquor Gallery moves in next to King of Steaks this fall. Greg Payer, owner of the liquor store currently located in Sherwood Plaza, says there are still too many pieces of the puzzle missing for anything to be concrete at this point. With approval to move from the zoning board to move about a mile down Kings Highway, Payer says it’s just a matter of waiting on financing. “Nothing is definite 'til I hear from the bank,” says Payer, who has plans to buy the entire lot which sits on the intersection of Kings Highway and Parkville-Station Road.  The lot currently houses King of Steaks and the former Terry’s Tropical …
