Did Joe Biden and Paul Ryan impress you or were they full of malarkey?
Talk about a debate. Vice President Joe Biden and Rep. Paul Ryan came out swinging and never backed down during the Oct. 11 vice presidential debate. In contrast to the much more staid presidential debate, Biden and Ryan went toe-to-toe in Danville, KY, in a debate split between domestic and foreign issues. The men interrupted each other frequently, sometimes raising their voices—and in Biden’s case, throwing up his hands. Biden and Ryan challenged each other at almost every turn, accusing the other of misrepresenting facts, budget calculations, past records and pretty much anything else they could disagree about. (Fact-checkers, of course, are already parsing the statements.) While moderator Martha Raddatz, ABC News chief foreign …

New Jersey Republican and Democratic insiders believe Mitt Romney's VP pick will galvanize each of their parties, but they're divided whether Paul Ryan is a better choice than Chris Christie. Elected officials and party leaders were quick to weigh in on the selection Saturday.
Politicians from the county level on up to the federal government reacted soon after Congressman Paul Ryan was named the vice-presidential running mate to Mitt Romney Saturday. Here's what they had to say: From Gloucester County's Republicans: The Gloucester County Republican Executive committee would like to congratulate our next president, Mitt Romney on his choice for our next Vice President. Paul Ryan is an intellectual prodigy and budget guru that will ensure this election cycle is focused on the issues that matter most to the American people. The economy and jobs! Democrats in New Jersey and around the country will do everything in their power to divert voters’ attention away from the failed policies of the Obama administration: High…
Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan selected as GOP nominee, while NJ governor may serve as convention keynote speaker.
After months of rumors that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie would be tapped as the GOP vice president nomineee, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney instead on Saturday chose Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan for the spot. Christie may now have the opportunity to serve as the GOP convention's keynote speaker later this month in Tampa, Fla. Being named the keynote speaker could open the door for Christie to run in 2016 and still allow him to serve a second term as governor. The New Jersey governor, who in the past has stated he was not interested in the vice presidential nomination, may have ultimately lost out in the long run due to his short fuse and short record. In just the last month, Christie branded a reporter as an "idiot" down in Monmouth County …

The team of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will take on Barack Obama and Joe Biden in November. Romney and Ryan, a Wisconson Republican congressman, teamed up in Norfolk, VA, this morning to make the official announcement, although details leaked out hours before. Ryan is considered a rising star in the GOP and is best known for his proposed budget that calls for an overhaul of Medicare. Some analysists call Ryan a "bold choice" because the congressman's selection is considered a controversial move and a departure from the "safe" reputation Romney has. Ryan has a long voting history on issues that Democrats want to run on — health care and Social Security, especially. Ryan also has never run for a statewide ticket, according to ABC News. …

Those surveyed showed satisfaction with current Republican presidential field.
While influential local Republicans in the early caucus and primary states said they are satisfied with the current GOP presidential field, a third said Gov. Chris Christie would be their choice for another candidate to enter the race. Sixty-three percent of those surveyed in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina said they are satisfied with the current field as part of the second Huffington Post-Patch Power Outsiders poll. Thirty-six percent of the 169 surveyed said that they wanted another candidate to enter the race. The survey, conducted earlier this week, comes as the Republican establishment in Washington is looking for new candidates to enter the race. Christie, who has continually tempered speculation that he wants to run for …
