Maurice River Township municipal court's judge calls for a special session to hear the lewdness case in its entirety.
After several postponements, former West Deptford Planning Board Chairman Scott Kintzing is still without a resolution to a lewdness charge against him. Kintzing appeared Tuesday night in Maurice River Township municipal court. Judge John A. Casarow Jr. ordered the case heard in a special session to allot enough time for each side to present its case. After a brief conference with Kintzing’s attorney Jeffery V. Puff of Woodbury, Prosecutor Edward Duffy and Casarow—resulting in a court break—Casarow stated a special session is needed due to the brief nature of Tuesday night’s court session. The judge said he would give “as much latitude as permissible” to both sides during the special session. No future date was announced immediately; …

Mayor Raymond Chintall says the decision not to reappoint the township planning board chairman has nothing to do with a pending lewdness charge against KIntzing.
Scott Kintzing's long tenure on the township planning board is over. Kintzing was not reappointed during the towship committee's reorganization meeting Thursday night. Kintzing and former planning board secretary Fred Purnell were not reappointed after both serving the township for 31 years. Instead, Republican Mayor Raymond Chintall reappointed Joe Nahas and Joe Monahan—who previously served as an alternate on the board. In addition, Chintall appointed Jeff Hansen, who also was reappointed to the RiverWinds advisory board. Hansen—a Republican who's already a familiar face at township committee meetings—ran unsuccessfully against Committeewoman Denice DiCarlo for her seat on the committee this past year. Chintall says that he made …

Proposals to build new residential lots on Jessup Raod and Curtis Avenue were both approved Tuesday night.
The township Planning Board approved a pair of applications for new residential developments at its first meeting of 2011 Tuesday night. One application, which would divide block 354 on Jessup Road into 18 residential lots was unanimously approved by the board. The applicants, Richland Partners, discussed their revised plan with the board and will be including a water management system to deal with drainage and run off throughout the property. The other matter before the board involved a proposal for two new residential lots on Curtis Avenue. The applicant, DeAngelo Associates, needed approval for variances on the lot’s perimeter size, front yard setback and lot area requirements. The motion was approved by all board members but one. The …

Potential of hundreds of construction jobs could help alleviate unemployment in skilled trades.
Jim Chew, president of Boilermakers Local 28, and union member and West Deptford resident Bob Fenton couldn't believe they were the only members of the public who turned out to hear whether the township planning board would approve a proposed natural gas-fired power plant Tuesday night. Especially because it could mean hundreds of construction jobs. Especially because their union, like many others, is experiencing high rates of unemployment–as high as 65 to 70 percent, Chew said. "This is it. This is the one," Chew said of the plant's potential to put a lot of skilled laborers back to work at once. From building the boilers to the pressure gauges to the stacks, Chew thinks 100 of his union members could be put to work immediately, not to …

Township planning board approves the final site plan for a proposed natural gas-fired power station.
In a meeting that took just 20 minutes, the West Deptford planning board unanimously approved Tuesday the six-year site plan put forth by West Deptford Energy, LLC for a three-phase development of their proposed combined cycle natural gas power station. The approval clears away the final major hurdle in the project's development at the township level, but Tom Hoatson, director of development and regulatory affairs for LS Power, of which West Deptford Energy is a subsidiary, noted that it would be at least nine months before construction could start. Hoatson said a number of factors will contribute to when construction begins, including securing a contract for the plant's power production, a process which has been hampered by the downturn …

West Deptford Energy, LLC presents their site plan to the township Tuesday night.
West Deptford Energy LLC, the local arm of LS Power Group, will bring its six-year site plan before the township planning board Tuesday night, hoping to clear one of the final hurdles on the way to bringing a 620-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant here. The proposed site is a county-owned property on Paradise Road near Crown Point Road that houses an abandoned, partially-constructed power generating station. Aerial photos show a trio of structures already built on the site, which sits across from the Gloucester County Utilities Authority's waste water treatment plant. LS Power's director of development and regulatory affairs, Tom Hoatson, has said in previously published reports that the power plant could bring 300 to 500 temporary …

I hope Scott is vindicated of this charge and wish for a positive outcome for him. If the court hearing continues to get pushed back people are going to start crying foul and suspicions will rise.   more ›
